Bengali Typing Test

This typing test supports all major Bengali keyboard layouts used in government exams:

1. Bengali InScript: The Unicode standard layout mandated by the Government of India (BIS standard). This is the official layout used in SSC, central government exams, and many state government typing tests. Ideal for West Bengal and Tripura cadre central government posts.

2. Probhat: A widely used layout in West Bengal for WBPSC, Kolkata High Court, WBSSC, and district court typing tests. If you are preparing for West Bengal state government exams, this is the most commonly required layout.

3. Bijoy: The de facto standard keyboard layout for all Bangladesh government offices, Bangladesh Bank, public sector banks, and institutions such as DPE, NTRCA, and all Bangladesh ministries. Developed by Mustafa Jabbar, this layout is mandatory for BCS and virtually all government typing tests in Bangladesh.

4. English (QWERTY): Standard QWERTY layout for English typing practice, useful for bilingual document work common in government offices.

The WBPSC (West Bengal Public Service Commission) specifies the following typing speed requirements:

Bengali Typing: Most WBPSC clerical posts require a minimum of 25–40 WPM with an accuracy of 95% or above. This applies to Clerkship, Food Sub-Inspector, Auditor, and Miscellaneous Services posts.

Kolkata High Court Typist: Higher speeds are typically required — candidates should aim for 35–45 WPM with near-perfect accuracy.

WBSSC (West Bengal School Service Commission): Office staff and typist posts under WBSSC require similar speed benchmarks of 25–35 WPM.

This typing test calculates your speed using the same character-based formula: Net WPM = (Correct Characters / 5) / Time in minutes. Practice regularly to build the speed and accuracy needed for these exams.

The BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) examination is conducted by the BPSC (Bangladesh Public Service Commission). For clerical and data entry posts, a Bengali typing test using the Bijoy keyboard is mandatory.

General Government Posts: Most Bangladesh government typing tests require 25–35 WPM with an accuracy of 90–95%.

Bangladesh Bank & Public Sector Banks: Bangladesh Bank, Janata Bank, Sonali Bank, Agrani Bank, and Rupali Bank may require higher speeds — typically 30–40 WPM.

NTRCA & DPE: Administrative staff positions under NTRCA and the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) require 25–30 WPM with 90% accuracy.

Bengali typing speed in government exams is calculated using the character-based method, where 1 word equals 5 characters:

Gross WPM:
Gross WPM = Total Correct Characters / 5 / Time (in minutes)

Net WPM (used in WBPSC, SSC & BCS exams):
Net WPM = (Total Characters − Total Errors) / 5 / Time (in minutes)

This test displays both Gross and Net WPM so you can track your exam-ready speed. Most WBPSC and SSC exams use the Net WPM method, where each error reduces your effective typing speed.
