What is the Probhat Keyboard?

Probhat (প্রভাত) is a Bengali keyboard layout widely used in West Bengal government offices, the Kolkata High Court, and WBPSC exam centres. It is one of the two major Bengali keyboard layouts in India, alongside Bengali InScript.

Like Bijoy in Bangladesh, Probhat supports four keyboard layers — Unshifted, Shifted, Alt Right, and Alt Right + Shift — providing access to the complete Bengali character set including rare conjunct consonants and diacritical marks.

Where is Probhat Used?

• West Bengal Government Offices: Probhat is widely installed and used in West Bengal state government departments, district offices, and secretariat.
• WBPSC (West Bengal Public Service Commission): WBPSC typing skill tests for clerical and typist posts accept or require the Probhat keyboard layout.
• Kolkata High Court: Court typists and clerical staff in the Kolkata High Court and subordinate courts use Probhat for Bengali legal documentation.
• WBSSC (West Bengal School Service Commission): Teacher recruitment and school staff posts requiring Bengali typing often use the Probhat layout.
• West Bengal Police & PSUs: Various West Bengal state public sector units and police departments use Probhat for Bengali correspondence.

Install Probhat on Your Computer
